Usage allowance

When you use broadband for business, download totals can reach surprising levels. With Business Broadband Option 2 and Option 3 there's no usage limit¹, which means you can transfer any number of files or spend days researching online - without worrying about being charged for excess usage.

With Option 1 there's a monthly usage allowance of 10GB each month. If you do occasionally go over this limit, don't worry, a small excess charge will appear on your next bill and we will send an email to your primary email account advising you.

Download speed

All BT Business Total Broadband Options are offered at speeds of up to 8Mb/sec² (sometimes referred to as '8 meg'), your actual connection speed will depend on a number of factors; including the distance you are from your local telephone exchange.

Upload speed

All options have upload speeds of 448Kb/sec. The upload speed is the speed at which data (e.g. photographs) are uploaded to the internet (e.g. when you load your photographs onto a website). Upload speeds are slower than download speeds. The reason for this is that people generally do far more downloading. If you are looking for high upload speeds, Business SDSL may suit you as you can upload and download at up to 2Mb/sec².

Wireless router

The BT Business Hub combines a modem, router, hub and wireless access point with a built-in firewall and allows you to connect more than one computer to broadband and is compatible with BT Business Broadband Voice.

The BT Business Hub is included with Option 2 and Option 3. With Option 1 you can choose from either the BT Business Hub (£59 when ordered online, £79 by phone. Ex VAT), or the BT Voyager 220V which is ideal for a single user (£49 ex VAT).

BT Openzone minutes

All options come with inclusive BT Openzone minutes every month for the minimum term of your contract³, so you can get online when you're away from your office.

With BT Openzone, you can connect to the Internet at any access hotspot in cafés, hotels, stations, pubs and airports in the UK and Ireland.

The number of BT Openzone minutes varies by Option:

Static IP address options

All our Options come with Dynamic IPs as standard, or you can purchase Static IPs as required.

Static IP address

All BT Business Total Broadband services come with dynamic IP addressing as standard. Dynamic IP addresses are perfectly suitable for customers with basic Internet access requirements and who would use the BT Business mail servers for their incoming and outgoing email.

A static IP address is a unique number which gives a computer a permanent address on the Internet and is more suited for more advanced Internet usage such as:

• Running a local email server for your inbound or outbound mail
• Running a local web server as well as being able to generate traffic statistics
• Running Virtual Private Networks (VPNs) and authentication for secure access to protected web sites
• Using video conferencing services
• Hosting a PC games server and set up competitive or co-operative game play online
• Accessing your PC from anywhere with remote desktop software
• Running other services or applications that requires external access such as IP based security cameras

Installation options

Your phone line will be converted to broadband on your activation date, which you can select as part of the order process.

Self install

BT Business Total Broadband is quick and easy to install. You will receive a Welcome Pack which includes your BT Business Hub (or router) and all the essentials required to connect to your broadband enabled line including step-by-step instructions.

Engineer install

We accept that not every business will have in-house technical expertise or even time to fit broadband themselves. The Engineer Install service takes away this concern and covers:

• Providing on-site set up & configuration of your BT Business Total Broadband service by trained professionals.
• Providing you with a fully working service.
• Once BT Business Total Broadband is installed your engineer will also set up Business Broadband Voice, Internet Security Pack and email.

You will be given the opportunity to order Engineer Install as part of the BT Business Total Broadband order journey.

Standard setup for the first PC is £99 (ex. VAT) and £35 (ex. VAT) for each additional PC.

10 email addresses

All options come with 10 email accounts with 'Outlook Web Access' - this means you can access your email from any Internet connection, and with 10 email accounts you can easily create individual mailboxes for employees or to direct types of email e.g. sales_yourcompany@btconnect.com

50MB webspace

If you're not promoted on the Internet there's a good chance you could be missing out on customers, so the 50MB of web space and EasySiteWizard included with all options will help you build your business website quickly and easily. If you already have a domain name you can easily transfer this to BT.

Internet calls (VoIP)

All options include a Broadband Voice (VoIP) business line for both incoming and outgoing calls. Broadband Voice lines can be used to make or receive voice or fax calls without the cost of installing further lines. Calls to other Broadband Voice subscribers can be made at no extra cost while calls to mobile, international, and UK calls are all capped for up to an hour.

Once the VoIP line is activated, you can download the free BT Office Communicator software to make video calls, send free SMS texts, and hold conference calls or Instant Message conversations. Having installed the software you can use your VoIP line anywhere that you have a Broadband connection.

The reception quality of the VoIP phone line may vary depending on Internet traffic and the number of PCs being actively used on the broadband connection. You or your company must have a BT Business telephone account. As long as you keep the broadband connection you'll pay no rental on the new VoIP line.

Workspace Lite provides businesses with one place to store documents allowing them to share information to work collaboratively with colleagues, customers and suppliers. Backed up daily and password controlled this secure space is ideal for an intranet to store & control process & training documents, or as an extranet to work on projects with external partners. 0800/0844 number

Making a good first impression counts, so having an 0800 or 0844 number⁴ for business can help give your potential customers the confidence to call you. Having an 0800 number allows your customers to call you for free and you pay the call charges. An 0844 number incurs no call charges to you, the caller pays.

What it costs

There is no charge for your 0800 (or 0844) number for the first 12 months, thereafter you'll only pay £30.00 per quarter (ex VAT). That's just £10 per month for a great way for your customers to contact you with a number they can recognise instantly.

With 0800 numbers it's free for your customers to call you from a BT landline, as you pay for the call instead - which is just 4.98 pence per minute (ex VAT).

For 0844 numbers your customers can call you for the fixed rate of 4.26 pence per minute (ex VAT) when calling from a BT landline. There is a minimum call charge of 5.02 pence per minute (ex VAT).

How to order your free number

Details of how to apply for your 0800 or 0844 number will be contained in your broadband welcome email. BT will confirm acceptance of the order by email which will include the 0800 or 0844 number and the estimated service start date.

With Option 3 you receive IT Support Manager for one PC. With IT Support Manager, our IT experts can help to fix problems with your PC via a secure remote connection, which means you can get rapid support without an IT engineer having to visit you. With IT Support Manager you benefit from long-term peace of mind with the knowledge you can make unlimited support calls. Our PC support service covers current Microsoft Windows and Apple Mac operating systems and the Microsoft Office applications that provide the backbone of most office work.

Lines are open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, excluding Bank Holidays.
